Directed and Edited by Barry Walker 'Sugar-coated Melancholy' is the second of our 'Patchwork Memories' releases. This song was written by Darren in 2001, inspired by a moment he experienced when travelling with some friends, seeing the world a different way, realising the beauty and joy all around, and imbuing him with a new confidence. This song was one we really believed deserved to be heard by more people, so we're excited to share it now with the world, finally, after 24 years... Lyrics: Sugar-coated melancholy, Sickly-sweet it cannot harm me Built myself a private army Chewed my words, no need reminding The bitter taste is now subsiding I am less, for I am pining You point it all out for me This beauty that I see But I can't restrain the fool From breaking out of me To wallow is to quit A life that I could build upon I chase the moon, as night is luring It's lonely light is reassuring I'm doing what it takes to cure me Take my hand, lead me to safety We've both made one hell of a journey A death-wish I once made won't hurt me You point it all out for me This beauty that I see So I must restrain the fool From breaking out of me To wallow is to quit A life that I could build upon
