This is why you don't cheap out on your hotels, kids. CONTENT WARNINGS: thalassophobia-inducing themes, mild blood, mild violence, disordered eating, mass hysteria/compulsion Game: Rot in Paradise Find the game here: https://racheldrawsthis.itch.io/rot-i... Original creator: STUDIO INVESTIGRAVE Release Date: 2024 Engine: RPG Maker MV I do NOT own anything on this video, all credit to their respective creators. If the creator wants me to take this down, please tell me. You can generally guarantee that I'll upload a new video whenever Studio Investigrave releases stuff, and this is no different. This time for the Spooktober Jam, so way less gameplay focus, but it's still RPG Maker so it counts. So what did I, in my "incredibly professional" opinion think about this game? I liked it! It's that slow realization form of horror, where you question what is going on even after playing. The ends do not give you much idea either, but I like how the endings can be viewed symbolically. (Based on the already established ideas in the game) I liked the characters. June is a very fun protag, and I do like the other characters. Ryan is nice too, and I appreciate the fact that despite acting somewhat... rude at points, he's still a voice of reason when it all goes to hell. The other friends were fine too. Dialogue was fun! I like the horror aspect. Not knowing if stuff was actually just in your head, or something actually way more bad. I think not having anything shown is a very good choice since it makes it scarier (fear of the unknown) and the ocean just being a very scary place in general. Who knows what's inside. Dunno why they ate metal though. Although that's freaky too, I suppose. The endings though are very open-ended. I am still somewhat unsure if I got all endings or not, but I did check the game files and there didn't seem to be other ones. I did like them despite their open-endedness due to their symbolism (that I think they have) The art is nice. Not as detailed as your usual Studio Investigrave game, but I don't mind that. There were a lot of CGs (over 90 apparently????) and if a simpler art style gives us that then so be it. And I like it when indie devs use somewhat different art styles anyway. Good art. But anyway, it is late for me, so final thoughts: Good game! I enjoyed it.
