Shinsekai is in southern Osaka, near Tennoji. We took the train to Dobutsuen-mae Station and it was just a short walk away. The main landmark of the area is Tsutenkaku Tower, which has an observation deck and a slide going down the outside. There are lots of places to eat, and kushikatsu restaurants (fried meat and vegetables on sticks, with tasty sauce) - an Osaka speciality. The decorations on the restaurants and buildings around Shinsekai are stunning, with large, eye-catching sculptures, lanterns and murals. The area really has a retro feel.
