Õitsev kevade Aarne Viisimaa ja orkestri esituses (1937 / Bellaccord-Electro). Aarne Viisimaa: 25. XI 1898 Sangaste, Eesti - 02. X 1989 Stockholm, Rootsi. Maetud Tallinnas. In the 1910's school roads took Aarne Viisimaa to the Higher Commercial School at the university town of Tartu. Particular school was one of the most nationally concious Estonian schools in the whole country. Among other teachers Juhan Aavik and Juhan Simm worked as a teachers of music at the school. Invited by Juhan Simm, Aarne Viisimaa came to the "Vanemuine" Theatre (Tartu) in 1917 - 3 years before completing the school. After having left the Higher Commercial School in 1920, three different vocational careers attracted Aarne Viisimaa - music, song and acting, theology and econmics. The first of these took the lead and now Aarne Viisimaa continued his career at the "Vanemuine" already as a young soloist tenor and actor. But at the same time he continued his education both at the song classes of the Tartu Conservatory and at the faculty of Economics of the Tartu University. His most important song teachers became Georg Stahlberg and Armanda Dagli Abbatti. As a singer and director, Aarne Viisimaa created the opera tradition of the "Vanemuine" Theatre. In 1927, however, he came to the National Theatre "Estonia" in Tallinn as an operatic tenor. There he worked most successfully with as well the opera as the operetta together with all the recognised contemporary Estonian singers, directors and conductors and also with many quest artists from abroad. In 1944 the City Theatre of Helsinki called upon him and his soprano colleaque Milvi Laid to stay in Finland for a long period of quest acting, from where, however, both the singers must leave to Sweden in the autumn of the same year. Since Estonia was occupyed by Soviet-Russia, Aarne Viisimaa spent the rest of his life in exile. Also in his exile years in Sweden Aarne Viisimaa continued his career as a singer and an actor but also as a director and a choral conductor. Aarne Viisimaa completed his active career on stage in 1958 in Stockholm with a great production of J. Strauss'es operetta "Die Fledermaus". The performing ensemble were Estonian singers and actors. During the 1960's Aarne Viisimaa made many concert tours to North America, where he visited Estonian minority centers such as New York City, Washington D.C., Toronto, Montreal and others, singing both temporal and spiritual repertoire. Aarne Viisimaa's contacts with audio technology started already in 1927 at the Estonian Broadcasting Corporation. He became the first producer in Estonia that put together dialogue and sound effects with picturesque musical backgrounds and interluds. Simultaneously he also started making grammophone records. These recording-sessions took place in Tallinn, Helsinki and Copenhagen, mainly between 1928 and 1936, together with many outstanding colleagues. #1920s #1930s #Walzer
