Enigma rotary encryption and decryption machine with only 8 instead of 26 keys and 1 instead of 3 or 4 rotors built from fischertechnik construction set only using original parts. The principle design approach of the machine can be shown in this functional model. All main design elements, the electric circuit, the mechanical keyboard, the movement of the rotor with each keystroke, the switchboard are converted into a fischertechnik design and allow to play with this simple but powerful encryption approach. Deviation from the real model: Due to the fact that the fischertechnik stepping switch requires more force and due to only 8 instead of 26 letters on the circumference of the rotor require more angle per keystroke, too, the mechanical ratchet gear drive was replaced by a powermotor with a switch and the electronics module to stop the rotary drum at the next contact.
