Today we're gonna be taking a look at the different styles of inaudible 00:00:02 covers for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. When choosing a cover for your Silverado, you've got a lot of different styles and options, the first being the traditional soft cover. Now you can get this in a fold-up version like this, or yo can get it in the roll-up version. That's still gonna have the same features. The next option you have is the canister roll-up, meaning that when you pull the cover back to get access to your bed you're gonna have a canister right here sitting on the inside of your truck bed that holds your cover in place and doesn't take up any room on the back window. Another option you have is aluminum-paneled hard cover that just folds back like so. You can keep folding it back for partial or full bed access. The last option you have is the hard roll-up cover that we have on our Silverado right now. And with this one, when you wanna open it up it just rolls on top of the truck bed up on itself all the way back.So let's go over a couple of pros and cons of each cover. We'll start with the traditional soft cover. Now like I said, you can get this in the paneled version or the roll-up. Either way it's gonna be a great economical choice for keeping the elements out of the truck bed, but it's also gonna be not the best option for deterring theft, simply because of the one layer of vinyl between the outside and the inside of your truck bed.Now onto the canister. With this one you got the hard durable cover that's pretty rugged, and when you wanna access it it's very easy to operate. You just pull it open. What's great about this is that you're never going to lose visibility in your rear window. However, the canister is gonna take up about a foot of space inside your truck bed, so you are sacrificing that permanent space right there. But when used in conjunction with a locking tailgate, it's gonna offer a lot better security. Now we're onto the hard fold-up covers. With these it is still gonna be very durable and provide you with a lot of security. How they work is that they have individual panels that fold back onto each other. One of the downfalls might be that when you're folding it back more and more it's gonna get increasingly heavier, so when you're standing outside of your truck, especially if you have a height restriction, it could get hard to fold it up above your head. One of the other things that you'll either be sacrificing truck bed space if you have partial access right here, or with certain covers you can fold all the panels up and rest them against the cab of your truck with these foam bumpers, but in that case you'll be sacrificing that rear window visibility. Now with the hard roll-up covers, you can think of this as a tougher and more rugged version of the soft roll-up covers. They're also gonna provide better security than the soft covers. They operate similarly. We just pull that latch and they can roll it all the way to the cab. Now what's also nice about these covers is that rather than having to sacrifice rear window visibility or space in your truck bed, you're sacrificing just a little bit of both. Because it doesn't take up as much space on your truck bed as the panels or the canister, and also you can still see out your rear window, so you're only sacrificing a little bit of that. Now I can give you a couple different pros and cons for every cover, but there are three things in my mind that pop up when I'm thinking about buying a cover for my truck. The first being, is it gonna be low profile But with all these covers and styles, you can find a cover that's going to be low profile. Now the second thing I'm looking for is bed security, which will lead me over to more the hard covers, that is the canister, the hard roll-up or the paneled version, because simply it's just harder to access the truck bed with those installed. The third thing is I'm just looking for what's gonna make my truck look better, and me personally, I just like the way that the hard fold-up covers look. And they just bring out the looks of my truck. Now with all that being said, there's still a couple of things to consider, one being your budget; two, you wanna pick the one that's gonna best suit our needs; and third, and most of all, you wanna pick the one that you think is go
