(7 Mar 1995) Russian/Eng/ Nat Russia's ultra-nationalist leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky has attacked President Boris Yeltsin for neglecting Russia's relations with India. Zhirinovsky made his remarks during a three-day visit to India - aimed at expanding trade between the two countries and establishing stronger political ties. Zhirinovsky arrived by private jet on his unofficial visit to India on Sunday, hosted by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. The Russian leader whose radical views have made him a pariah in some capitals of the world had kind words for India. Zhirinovsky said he would support future arms supplies to India. SOUNDBITE: (Translation from Russian) "Everything will depend on India. Whether India needs such supply of arms or not, that will depend on that and we will decide on a bilateral basis through discussions, and is not a question of us helping India, because India is not a weak country."
