6. A soggy narrowboat cruise...but the canal needed the drink!

A change in the weather meant that we donned our waterproofs today. We couldn't complain though as the canal was desperately in need of some extra water. Eric mainly hid inside doing "important things" whilst I got drenched on the stern. That said, I actually quite like cruising in the rain - there's something very mesmerising and raw about it! Does that sound weird? When you're on a schedule you have to move although we effectively split the day into two with a 3 hour break to let the worst of it pass. We were reminded that nature can be brutal when we saw a Heron having its lunch, and it wasn't a fish. We eventually moored just prior to the bottom lock at Llangynidr, nipped to the pub for a quick pint of cider before feasting on my concoction in the kitchen.
