The historic Jewish quarter in the 7th district of Budapest is one of the oldest, most interesting and atmospheric parts of the city. During World War II, the largest Budapest ghetto was located here. And today, everywhere you can still come across signs reminiscent of the era of the Jewish state of emergency. The Jewish quarter of Budapest is living a new life: along with kosher restaurants and bakeries, ritual Jewish baths, local bars and restaurants are booming again, and iconic ruin pubs and eclectic entertainment venues are opening one after another in buildings that were once doomed to demolition. The original idea for a bar in an old Jewish Quarter building was driven by the modest financial means of its founders. The group of young businessmen had previously only had experience selling draft beer at music festivals. To realize the idea of ​​their own pub, they bought an old building and began to create an unusual interior at a minimum cost. Old furniture, toys, bicycles, and musical instruments were used. Antique lamps and signs, garden accessories and mirrors, books, clothing, and mannequins find their place in the eclectic decor of the pub. Until now, from the very first days of the creation of Simple Curt, sawn-off bathrooms and an old Trabant have been integral elements of the establishment’s design and its calling card. Old posters and playbills are hung on the walls, stands and shelves with various collections of old items are placed. All free space on the walls of the pub is covered with graffiti, inscriptions and traces of the creative self-expression of visitors. The pub, opened at a modest cost, attracted the attention of the public with the opportunity to sit and drink beer in an unusual interior. Having gained popularity among visitors, Simpla Kert had the opportunity to expand its business. Now the pub occupies several rooms on two floors and open areas around the building. Now there are several bars of various profiles; visitors are offered more than 400 types of drinks.
