Over the past 100 years, the world's population has grown really fast and just reached 8 billion. Will our Earth come to an end because of overpopulation? There's someone who thought about this before. His name is Thomas Malthus. So, we can use Malthus' book, Population Theory, as the starting point of our conversation. Malthus argued that the supply of food increases arithmetically, but the population increases exponentially, so humans will always remain hungry if they don't control. This is so-called 'Malthusian Trap'. Malthus had a fairly scientific basis for nitrogen fixation in the soil. But humans have found food breakthroughs many times. For example, Fritz Haber's synthetic fertilizer was a remarkable achievement for mankind. So Malthus' prediction seems to be over. Is that really it? In front of us lies a new problem that are so huge that we can't even think of solving it. And it's certain that this will stop our food production.
