A man lost control of his car and crashed into a gas station on Merrimon Avenue on Sunday. The accident happened around 4 p.m. at the Enmark. Witnesses tell News 13 the driver of a black SUV drove off Merrimon Avenue and through the parking lot of the gas station. The SUV slammed into a car parked at a gas pump and pinned a man who was pumping gas. The impact knocked the gas pump off of its foundation. There are no words to explain it, said Jeannie Davis, who witnessed the crash. It was very scary. Davis says she credits a quick thinking store clerk with preventing an explosion. She hit the pump stop button from the inside, my first instinct was to run and find the other pump stop button on the other side of the booth, Davis said. Asheville Police say both men involved in the accident were taken to the hospital. Their names and conditions have not been released. APD is still investigating. _______________ Follow WLOS on social media: WLOS ABC 13 News on Facebook: / news13 WLOS ABC 13 News on Twitter: / wlos_13 WLOS ABC 13 News on Instagram: / wlos_13 Subscribe to WLOS on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/ABC13Cha...
