Disclaimer With the extra wild weather, deep snowpack and many rescues and deaths on Baldy this season please DO NOT attempt to follow this route and climb or ski the Baldy Bowl without proficient mountaineering skills and experience. This included CRAMPONS (NOT MICROSPIKES), an ICE AXE and a HELMET. A lack of experience, gear and preparation is quickly FATAL even on this mountain close to LA. There is avalanche danger, rockfall, icefall, slide for life risk, extremely cold temperatures, high winds and potential for no rescue services being available in certain weather conditions. Even if you are an extremely experienced hiker you will not be safe without mountaineering skills and equipment. STAY AWAY from any steep snow slopes if you do not have the explicit skills, gear and experience to climb Baldy in the winter. Went back up the bowl a few days after the other trip. Snow was melting fast below the ski hut. Bowl was nice and slushy with increased risk of wet slides. Skied Zen Couloir and the Bonus Bowl down the creek drainage until we got choked out and skinned out of the drainage. Skiing in the drainage is not recommended due to snow bridges over the creek and quickly melting snow. At the time we felt it was safe to ski the part that we skied.
