In this video I talk about simple and practical tips to prevent and treat minor frostbite in your backyard flock. Do you have questions or additional tips for preventing frostbite that I don't mention in this video? Please add your thoughts and experiences in the comments. Additional note: Straw, while it has many many uses on the homestead retains a great deal of moisture. In our region because of our climate straw as a cover litter would retain too much moisture and freeze. I utilize straw in our dry chicken coop but I use pine flake shavings as the ground cover in the chicken run. Disclaimer. *I’m not a livestock veterinary professional.
