There's so many different formulas to anaesthetise the eye. In this video I show the basics of drawing up my 2 commonly used formulas. Again, there are many different away of doing this with advantages and disadvantages to each, but its really important to have a foundation to start from; after which you can modify to suit your individual needs! The QUICK ONSET formula that isn't long lasting (great for fast high volume lists) is 2% lignocaine with 30units.ml hyalase. 1) 10ml of 2% lignocaine. 2) mix 1500units of hyalase into this 10mls to give 2% lignocaine with 150units per ml hyalase. (FORMULA 1) 3) draw up 20 ml of 2% lignocaine in a separate 25ml syringe (FORMULA 2) 4) add 5ml of the first formula (2% lignocaine with hyalase) to that syringe. 5) the final formula is 2% lignocaine and 30units/ml hyalase you can make up whatever volume you like... just add 1ml of FORMULA 1 to every 4ml of FORMULA 2 The QUICK ONSET LONG LASTING formula is 2% lignocaine with 0.6% Ropivacaine and 30units/ml hyalase. 1) add 10ml of 10% lignocaine to a syringe. 2) dissolve 1500units hyalase into the syringe 3) FORMULA 3 is 10% lignocaine and 150units/ml hyalase 4) in a 5ml syringe draw up 4ml of 0.75% ropivacaine. 5) add 1ml of FORMULA 3 to this 5ml syringe. 6) it will be 2% lignocaine with 0.6% Ropivacaine and 30units/ml hyalase.
