On the morning of Shrawan 32, 2060 B.S., the quiet village of Doramba turned into a scene of tragedy. At the center of it all was the home of Yubraj Moktan, a local teacher unknowingly caught between the Maoists and the state. Maoist cadres had gathered inside his house, and the night before, his wife Suntali Moktan and their youngest son had just returned, unaware of the looming danger. When the Royal Nepalese Army arrived at dawn, the atmosphere turned from tense to terrifying. In a desperate moment, 11 people tried to escape through the fields — only 2 would make it out alive. What followed was a brutal operation that would later be called a massacre. In this episode, we revisit the emotional testimony of the Moktan family, trace the movements of the escaped individuals, and explore the chilling events that led to the execution of unarmed detainees on a nearby ridge. Based on eyewitness accounts and court evidence, this video brings to light the human cost of Nepal’s civil war — where homes became warzones, and silence often followed screams for justice.
