Lifelong Learning | The Hoffman Process | Overcoming Triggers - Take Control | Shawn T Murphy Our autonomic nervous system finishes its programming in the first few years of life to ensure its survivability in the environment it was born. A baby is 100% reliant on others to survive and, therefore, requires love to survive. The attention that baby receives is perceived as love, and does what it can to achieve attention. These behaviors are programmed into the autonomic nervous system, but what the child need to survive, is no the same thing that an adult requires. When a child grows up in an abusive environment, it perceives this abuse as love and, as an adult, this is the relationship that the autonomic nervous system wants to find. Robert Hoffman developed a methodology to reprogram the autonomic nervous system through a visceral process, since the cognitive brain is unable to out think the ancient reptile brain.
