Inaugural Session of one-day national seminar on ‘Media and Marginality: Situating The Minority In Popular Narratives' organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Aliah University and Association SNAP on 30 April 2017 at the Auditorium of Park Circus campus of the university. The programme began with the recitation of the first four verses of Surah An-Nisa (The Women) with English translation by Najmul Arefin (MA Arabic student of Aliah University). Prof. Abu Taleb Khan, Vice Chancellor, Aliah University delivered the Key-Note address, followed by brief interventions by Ahmed Hassan Imran, Editor of Bengali Daily Kolom and Rajya Sabha MP and Shakil Ahmed, Joint-Secretary, Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department (MAMED). Ghazala Yasmin, Head (Officiating), Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Aliah University delivered the Welcome-Address, followed by the formal Vote of thanks by Sabir Ahamed of Association SNAP. The inaugural session of the seminar concluded with the National Anthem. The session was moderated by M Reyaz, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Aliah University.
