In 1979, two Israeli cousins bought a failing film company for five hundred thousand dollars. Within seven years, Cannon Films was releasing forty-three movies a year and dominating every video store shelf in America. They signed Charles Bronson, Chuck Norris, and Jean-Claude Van Damme. They made Death Wish sequels and ninja movies for less than five million each and sold them worldwide before a foot of film was shot. Then they decided they wanted to be a real studio. They paid Sylvester Stallone twelve million dollars for an arm wrestling movie that barely broke even. They slashed Superman IV's budget so badly it killed the franchise for twenty years. They bought theater chains, a film library, and announced dozens of films they could never make. By 1986, they had reported a sixty-million-dollar loss. By 1988, they faced bankruptcy. By 1994, Cannon was dead. This is the story of the most reckless and entertaining studio Hollywood has ever seen. ► If you found this video eye-opening, please like and subscribe to support our channel! ► Watch till the end — some of these stories are almost too wild to be true. ► Let us know in the comments: Which one shocked you the most?
