#時代祭　#kyoto #japan Kyoto Imperial Palace ~ Heian Shrine The Jidai Festival, an event to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of Heian Shrine and the relocation of the capital to Heian, and one of Kyoto's three major festivals, will be held again this year. One of the highlights is the historical procession, which will be held on the 22nd (Sunday) (until the 23rd, rain or shine). Approximately 2,000 people will be wearing costumes from eight eras, from the Meiji Restoration to the Enryaku period, when Heiankyo was built. People form a procession approximately 2km long and parade through the streets of Kyoto. The procession departs from the Kyoto Imperial Palace at 12:00, heads west along Marutamachi Street, runs from Karasuma Street to Oike Street, passes through Kawaramachi Street and Sanjo Street, enters Jingu Street, and heads for Heian Shrine. You can watch the procession anywhere along the road, but there are plans to set up paid viewing seats at Kyoto Gyoen National Garden, Oike Dori, and Heian Jingu Road where you can watch the procession at your leisure.
