India’s first ‘floodwater to drinking water’ project inaugurated by Bihar CM ||MEIL

The project has been initiated as part of the Har Ghar Gangajal programme under the Jal Jeevan Hariyali mission. This is the dream project of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, which has come true today. Deputy Chief Minister Mr Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Minister for Water Resources Department Mr. Sanjay Kumar Jha, and MEIL Director Mr. Subbaiah, along with other dignitaries, attended the event. Architecturally, the project is noteworthy, as an enormous natural reservoir was created using the natural landscape without disturbing the local flora and fauna. The Ganga water will be lifted from Hathidah Ghat in Mokama, Patna, transported to huge reservoirs and then to water treatment plants where it will be made safe for consumption. Then the water will be supplied to the three dry towns of Bihar. The CM commended MEIL for the excellent work done within the stipulated timeframe. The Gaya and Bodh Gaya segments will be executed on November 28, 2022.
