5,500 steps. 2,243 meters. One unforgettable sunrise. In this video, we take on the legend of Adam's Peak (locally known as Sri Pada), a conical mountain in the central highlands of Sri Lanka that is sacred to four major religions. At the summit, a mysterious "sacred footprint" awaits, believed by Buddhists to be Lord Buddha's, by Hindus to be Lord Shiva's, and by Muslims and Christians to be Adam’s. We started our journey in the middle of the night from Nallathanniya (Dalhousie) to reach the peak before dawn. From the grueling vertical climb to the spiritual chants of pilgrims and the breathtaking 360-degree views of the maskeliya valley, this is the ultimate guide to Sri Lanka's most iconic trek. 📍 What You’ll See in This Video: Intro The 5,000 Step Challenge Reaching the Summit & The Bell Ritual Hiking Down: Daytime Views You Missed at Night 🗺️ Adam's Peak Hiking Guide: Location: Nallathanniya (Hatton), Central Highlands. Pilgrimage Season: Full moon of December to full moon of April (Dry Season). The Climb: 5,500+ stone steps. It takes 2.5 to 4 hours to go up and 2 hours to come down. Best Time to Start: Aim to start between 1:30 AM and 2:30 AM to secure a spot for the 6:00 AM sunrise. What to Wear: It is FREEZING at the top but sweaty on the way up. Wear layers! A light jacket, hat, and gloves are highly recommended for the summit. ⚠️ Important Travel Tips: Avoid Poya Days: Full moon days and weekends are incredibly crowded. You might get stuck in "human traffic" for hours. Try to climb on a weekday! The Shadow Phenomenon: If the sky is clear, look at the opposite side of the sunrise to see the mountain's perfect triangular shadow cast onto the clouds. Support Locals: There are plenty of tea shops along the way. Stop for a warm "Roti" or a ginger tea to keep your energy up! 📸 My Gear: Primary Camera: DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro 🔗 Connect With Me: Did you make it to the top? Or is Adam's Peak on your bucket list?
