FAMILY TIES: Season 7 (1988-89) Promo (The Final Episode)

This is a series finale promo for the special one-hour two-part episode "Alex Doesn't Live Here Anymore", the 25th-26th episode (and 175-176th overall) of the seventh-and final-season of the 1982-89 NBC hit comedy "Family Ties". This is also paired with a promo for the network's weekly movie anthology series "NBC Sunday Night at the Movies", which features the network television premiere of the 1986 John Hughes classic "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". Coincidentally, Ferris Bueller himself, Matthew Broderick, was actually considered for the role of "Family Ties" character Alex P. Keaton, but turned it down. The role went to Michael J. Fox. Both programs aired Sunday, May 14, 1989. In the episode, it seems that yuppie Alex P. Keaton (Michael J. Fox) has finally landed his dream job on Wall Street after graduating from college. The whole family is delighted for him, except his mother Elyse (Meredith Baxter Birney), who is rather angry him. In an emotional showdown, it comes out from Elyse that her anger is basically a mask for her true feelings. She doesn't want Alex to leave, as he doesn't want to say goodbye to her eldest child.
