NAM Captures https://tonehunt.org/AmpsPedalsPickup... MY CAPTURE METHOD 1) My ReAmp setup is calibrated to +13dBu (This may or may not be needed, I'm just quoting mine in case you want to know) 2) The RETURN level from your loadbox or mic capturing the Tone, keep this just under clipping. In the DAW I ReAmp the NAM file through the Amp -- Loadbox -- Interface. That level I make it as hot as possible without clipping. You don't NEED the NAM file to set your levels, just ReAmp a super loud guitar part like chugging or hard chords and that should give you a really hot level coming back. You just want to make sure the RETURN level is just under clipping. 3) Inside of ToneX I always choose "AMP" for capturing. 4) I would highly reccomend NOT capturing a boosted tone. ANY pedal hitting the amp seems to have a "more negative" effect. I always seem to get the highest quality captures doing AMP ONLY. If you absolutely must do a capture with a boost pedal, I'd still use the "AMP ONLY" option in ToneX, it comes out better for me. 5) Extreme Gain has a negative effect on captures. If the Gain on your amp is set to 7 and it sounds basically the same on 5, take it to 5. You can dial in the gain to taste, but scrape off any "excess gain" will help 6) Extreme High End (Treble/Presence) also has a negative effect on captures. If you can roll back the treble or presence (mainly presence) it will help get a higher quality capture. Scrape off any "excess high end" is how I'd look at it. 7) Kind of obvious, always do ADVANCED captures in ToneX... I know it sucks, grab a coffee, play Rocket League... you'll thank yourself later I ONLY do Amp Only captures in ToneX now. If I wanted to boost them up then the good thing is they have the capacity to be boosted properly In the DAW I can run a second instance of ToneX with a boost pedal, or I can run Amplitube5 and hit it with a tubescreamer, both work great. If I was using a ToneX One or Full ToneX Pedal on a Pedalboard, I would hit it with a tubescreamer or boost for best results.
