En los Andes ecuatorianos, las comunidades indígenas de Rumipata y Llangahua viven en estrecha relación con el páramo, un ecosistema único de alta montaña que actúa como una esponja natural, almacenando y liberando agua para miles de personas aguas abajo. Este reportaje retrata sus esfuerzos por cuidar el agua: limpiar canales, proteger áreas de reserva y organizar un reparto justo. También expone las tensiones en torno al acceso al agua segura en sus comunidades, mientras muchos en las ciudades se benefician sin reconocer el trabajo de quienes la resguardan. El reportaje muestra que cuidar el agua es también cuidar la vida, la memoria y el territorio. This report portrays their efforts to care for water: cleaning irrigation canals, protecting reserve areas, and organizing fair distribution. It also highlights the ongoing tensions around access to safe water in their communities, while many in the cities benefit without acknowledging the work of those who protect it. The report shows that caring for water also means caring for life, memory, and territory.
