The second part of relaxing motorcycle travel tour, from sea roads through small villages and beautiful landscapes, on a Honda CB500X. Of the most probable unknown and authentic coastal area of France, on a sunny and windy August day. The coast of La Hague is a special place because of its geology that contain of one of the most oldest rocks of Europe (2 Billion years). Also of its location between the North Sea and the warm Gulf Stream, that makes it's harsh weather and it's ability not to freeze during winter, making it a favorite place for migratory birds but also seals, dolphins and even sometimes killer whales, orcas and sharks. Its oldest human settlements are the most ancient of Normandy at 300.000 years old, when nine human species lived and the Celtic Sea and the North Sea were land covered by the lost continent of Doggerland. Afterwards this remote area where Gallic tribes lived were conquered by the Roman Empire 2.000 years ago, but its history is mixed between the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings. Then starting from the 18th century, it's island like geography made it a perfect place for textile and tobacco smuggling. It ended in the early 20th century with the customs officers patrolling the coast, now the famous coastal hiking trail Le Chemin des Douaniers (the customs path) was named after this period. In the 2nd world war, this region was relatively spared, even if it was a forbidden area except for its inhabitants and a series of bombardment on the village of La Hague. The landing beaches being located in the south-east. 6,000 Germany troops were stranded in the area then after some heavy fights, the area was freed by the 47th and 60th regiment of the American division.
