Notably, in the 1959 novel on which the film is based, Goldfinger instead uses a Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost for the task." The Alvis Speed 20 SB model being worked on by Paul is from 1936. It came to The Derby Works as a box of bits from Holland according to my tour guide Greg. Restoration at the workshop can be counted in years but the end is in sight with the body soon to return from the body shop. The Rolls-Royce Camargue is without doubt more popular now than it has ever been. Just 531 were produced over a near decade long production run. Being the most expensive car available on the planet probably didn't help but the Pininfarina styled body was for this youngster in the 1970s at least was an abomination. The spectacularly original Silver Dawn awaiting its owner was a credit to the three previuous owners whom had only covered 50 odd thousand miles in the 75 years since it rolled off the production line at Crewe.
