[4K HDR] Bicentennial Park - Sydney Olympic Park - Australia Walking Tour

Hi everyone! Welcome to Virtual Walks Australia. Today we take a walk through Bicentennial Park. Starting at Lewis Berger Park, named after a young colour chemist Lewis Berger who two and a half centuries ago developed a secret paint process that every designer and household coveted. Famously the Berger Paints were used for the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 1932 and for military purposes during the Second World War. The Lewis Berger Park opened in 2016 at the site where the Berger Paint factory once stood. After passing the Berger War Memorial we begin the Bicentennial pedestrian and cycling track. Bicentennial Park is a 99 Acre suburban parkland established in 1988 to commemorate 200 years since the arrival of the First Fleet of British convict ships at Sydney. Over the last 33 years the park has successfully protected estuarine wetlands and mangrove forests whilst providing a popular recreation area for walkers, cyclists and families to enjoy outdoor activities. A leisurely 15 minute walk passing mangrove swamps and copses of She-Oaks brings us to Concord West Playground, a family friendly area with barbecue facilities and a basketball half court. Continuing our walk over Powells Creek we follow the Bicentennial Park Pathway which opens onto Lake Belvedere. The expansive lawn areas around the lake are a great place to relax on a nice day underneath the shade of the mature Ficus trees. Grab a cool drink and a bite to eat at the Waterview Cafe. After a brief rest we walk past the Arc of Pines. This secluded area is bordered by magnificent Pine trees and overlooks Lake Belvedere, an ideal location for wedding ceremonies. Coming out of the Arc of Pines we walk under the shade of the Paper Barks planted on the edge of the lake which completes a lap around the lake. A restful spot to end our walk is under the Eucalypts. 0:00 - Intro 2:27 - The Walk Recording Date: 4th of October 2021 - 2:15pm Temperature: 27℃ / 80℉ Location: https://goo.gl/maps/WyQ2uiKeXeevifMk6 Subscribe:    / @virtualwalksaustralia   Website: https://virtualwalksaustralia.com Instagram:   / virtualwalksaustralia   Enquiries: [email protected] Copyright: Virtual Walks Australia™ Intro Music: Sunflower by Soyb #4KHDR #australia #walkingtour #sydney
