Cascata delle Marmore | FPV drone diving one of the highest european waterfalls

🇺🇸 Marmore Falls, Umbria - Italy | An FPV drone defying one of the highest waterfalls in Europe The Marmore Falls are among the highest in Europe (165 m), they were created by the Romans in 271 BC to drain the swamps above and they have undergone several transformations during the years. There is a legend about a beautiful nymph called Nera who fell in love with a simple shepherd called Velino. The goddess Juno was not so happy about it so she transformed the nymph into a River, the Nera river. The poor shepherd discovered the sad destiny of his beloved through a sybil and decided to join her jumping off a cliff directly into the river. That jump is the Marmore falls, symbol of their love. Today the flows are used to generate energy for the hydroelectric plant nearby. The waterfalls can be seen at max power for few hours per day and we couldn’t really miss the chance to give our Pablito a little bath in-flight! 😁 Thanks to Parco Fluviale del Nera for letting us discover this beauty from the air! Sono state create dai Romani nel 271 AC per prosciugare le paludi vicine e negli anni hanno subito diverse trasformazioni. C’è una leggenda che parla di una bellissima ninfa di nome Nera che si innamorò di un semplice pastore di nome Velino. La dea Giunone non era contenta di questo amore e punì la ninfa trasformandola in un fiume, il Nera. Il povero pastore non appena scoprì del triste destino della sua amata da una sibilla si gettò nel fiume per ricongiungersi a lei. Quel salto sono le Cascate delle Marmore, simbolo del loro amore. Oggi i flutti sono sfruttati dalla vicina centrale idroelettrica.
