A former Canadian Embassy in Athens is reimagined as The Modernist, a design-led luxury hotel founded by Kostis Karatzas. With a background in engineering and design, Karatzas approached the 1960s diplomatic building not as a hospitality project, but as an architectural exercise shaped by ethics and aesthetics. Working alongside FORMrelated and a close network of creative collaborators, the structure was transformed into a hotel where Art Deco references, mid-century details and Scandinavian restraint coexist within its original framework. Located in Kolonaki, The Modernist reflects a contemporary Greek confidence in architecture, design and hospitality.
