Pamungkas : di Gema Loka | Sounds From The Corner Session

2009, 2017, 2025 Between Pamungkas and I, we go way, way back. In 2009, Rizky (Pamungkas), Rohan, Resya dan Dika were once in a band called Potenzio, with Narendra Pawaka (now well known as Capt Eda) and Ryan as their duo vocal line. I had the chance to be their stage documentation unit, after helping my elder sister make their profile photos. They were doing their promotions on several shows, including Inbox and Dahsyat. It was at that period that I witnessed with my own eyes how the infamous music TV shows treated music as a side dish instead, and focused more on the other elements for the sake of showbiz. It indirectly became the root of how the basic ideas of Sounds From The Corner were created : a program that focuses more on the music itself. 2017, Sounds From The Corner was 5 years old, meanwhile I was having my own personal battle between proceeding the project or making a full stop to find more financial stability, to provide for my own family, since my daughter was born the year before. Sounds From The Corner honestly might have been over for good in 2017. It was this year that we also created an internship program called Squad, albeit short-lived, where Rizky actually joined as one of the interns, although somehow we didn’t get the chance to meet directly since the selection was initiated by others. 2017 was also the year that his debut album as Pamungkas, Walk the Talk was finally released. Sounds From The Corner actually had the chance to record his album launching, but up until now, I still can’t remember why we didn’t take the chance. Our video and audio production standards were still scarce : We didn’t have our own gears, we still had budget constraints, our curations were too strict? Not really sure what other unknown factors that might have been the case. 2025, Studio Gema Loka was finally born. Slowly renovated although finally functional and still growing, a new home where Sounds From The Corner is one of many projects that resides within. Technical wise, we have settled our production standards : We have our own gears, cameras, lightings, switchers, multitrack mixer-recorder, you name it. We learned a lot within years of troubleshooting to finally find a more compact yet efficient production for our production, without cutting corners for the end results. Meanwhile, Pamungkas with his music was also settling down. He finally has his own musical and creative freedom, after his journey throughout until his 5th album. Him and his production team are well-experienced, hence their production quality was probably the best I ever collaborated with, throughout many collaborations we have for Sounds From The Corner. Looking back, I am somehow kind of thankful we didn’t take the chance, 8 years ago. We might not have been able to record some of his best hits from his discography, with probably, in my own personal opinion, one of our best videos we ever produced, thus far.
