** TODAY'S PUZZLE ** An original and brilliant sudoku tonight from gdc called Patient Zeroes in which our job is to help stop the spead of a deadly virus. We're seeing some incredible Halloween-themed puzzles already this year (with a few more to come!) and this is right up there (indeed it has a perfect rating!) Please perform some measurements in the village and bring the results to the hospital. We need to see how severe the spread is. But be careful - It is highly contagious! NORMA L DOKES - Normal sudoku rules apply. INFECTIONS - The 3x3 boxes are numbered in normal reading order, 1 to 9. Each digit matching its own box number is a 'patient zero'. Each row and column contains a 'patient zero'. Patient zeroes are infected. Infected cells infect every orthogonally adjacent cell with a smaller digit. Infections keep spreading until no infected cell has a smaller uninfected orthogonal neighbour. (Every infected cell can be traced back to one or more patient zeroes.) PATH - Draw a 1-cell wide path from the doctor () to the hospital (). The path only moves orthogonally and may not touch itself, not even diagonally. The path may not contain infected cells. MICROSCOPES () are on the path and count the number of infected cells in the (up to 9) surrounding cells.
