Join me on another winter solo wildcamp in the Lake District. In this one I start my walk at the back of Whinlatter, the first destination for the day is Greystones, although it's a relatively short walk to the summit, it's one of the steepest ascents I've ever done. On tagging the summit I needed a good 10 minutes rest to get the wind back in my sails! Then I pushed on to the second summit of the day, Broom fell, having cooled down at the first summit I made good time, but i could feel the wind cooling down. I tapped the top of Broom fell, and very quickly felt cold, the views on the back side were heavily jaded by heavy cloud, and the weather began to look very ominous. So I decided to return to Greystones and pitched up for the night. By now I could see my breath in the air, and the wind was cutting like a knife, so I jumped inside my tent to get warm and enjoy my evening meal. I got my head down early, and awoke refreshed after a good night's sleep, tucking into my breakfast and a warm cup of coffee I was ready to pack up and decend back to the car.....until I looked outside the tent, as well as it being very cold and pitch dark, which I expected, heavy fog had set in overnight. Packing the tent away was a nightmare with the icy cold wind, and with the fog navigating my way back took a lot of concentration! Wildcamping ain't always sunshine and roses, nevertheless it was still very enjoyable. I hope you all enjoy, atb Paul 🙏🏕🏕🏕😁 #wildcamping #camping #mountains #hiking #winter
