Pyrrole Orange by Maimeri Blu is two first-time experiences in one for me. I haven't tried Maimeri Blu watercolour paints before, and this will also be my first time trying the orange version of the pigment PO71. Its redder variant, the now discontinued Transparent Pyrrol Orange by Daniel Smith, is my favourite "warm red" on my main palette that I am currently trying to find a replacement for. I know I can't find an exact replacement, but it's fun to explore and experiment with pigments to see what fits my preferences. In this video we'll have a look at Pyrrole Orange's pigment properties, and colour mixing with some of my favourite pigments. Towards the end I'll share the scan of the mixing chart with you, and compare it to the mixing chart for Transparent Orange PO107/DPP by Winsor and Newton. For the colour mixes I used the same pigments for both charts, so we can get a proper look at how the two paints compare. Choosing watercolour pigments can be a very personal choice, and comes down in part to subjective opinions based on your individual needs and preferences. My hope is that by sharing my own journey finding a new orange/red it may help beginner artists see how you can discover more about your individuality and voice as an artist through forming your own thoughts on art supplies. Grab a cuppa, and let's talk pigments. 🦋RELATED BLOG POSTS🦋 Pyrrole Orange: https://www.daenafae.com/blog/pyrrole...
