*UPDATE* Recent Windows updates over the past year or so (I think starting with version 2004) have made the game "softlock" when opening the "Check Supplies" button when on the map or at a stop on the trail (like a river crossing). The Supplies screen will not close properly and stays stuck on screen and requires the player to save, quit back to the main menu and load the game to resolve it. However, if you change the game's compatibility (right-click on the Otii32.exe ➔ Properties ➔ Compatibility tab ➔ and check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:") to Windows XP (Service Pack 2), this will hopefully solve the softlock issue and make the game play normally. ----- An instructional video on how to install Oregon Trail 2 on a 64-bit (x64) version of Windows 7/8.1/10. Notes: -River crossing videos will not play! Other than that, it should work perfectly. Summary of what you need to do: 1. Acquire a CD version of the game 2. Locate your DATA folder, or a folder that has a file called "OREGONII.DAT". There should be other files in there including a "MOVIES" folder, a few "FST" folders, the Oregon Trail 2 executable file, and an INI file called "Oregonii.ini". 3. Copy everything except the "OREGONII.DAT" file and the folders into a new folder on your hard drive. 4. Open "Oregonii.ini" and look for the line "rsrcpath". Change the "d:\data" to reflect your CD/DVD ROM drive. Make sure the "data" location is mirrored/included as well. 5. Open the game and enjoy!
