Am I just as good with a pen tablet as I am a screen tablet? Yes (for sculpting and texture) and sort of (for drawing). I liked using the pen tablet better than the screen tablet for 3D. It was easier to see the model while sculpting, and I didn't need to be as precise with my strokes when texturing. But when drawing, the pen tablet had a learning curve that took me a little while to get used to. And when I would take breaks, I had to start that learning curve all over again. My final drawings were just as good, but it was a little more stressful making them with the pen tablet. The screen tablet is a much more natural progression from traditional media, I've never really had to think about using the tool. My posture was much better with the pen tablet, but I also tended to use my wrist more which caused some fatigue and strain. Pen tablets are much more affordable, so I really do think it's worth getting them if you're just starting out in digital art or do it casually and you don't want to spend so much money up front. I'm going to go back to drawing with my screen tablet after this review. But for sculpting and texturing I plan to keep using the pen tablet as I liked it much better for 3d work.
