Hello! How do you do everyone? In this short clip, I show you the right wing on my B747 aircraft that I was about to fly to Phnom Penh two days ago with a missing Flap track canoe fairing. It is called ‘Canoe’ due to its shape similar to a canoe. They serve the function of enclosing the flap track mechanism and protecting from debris like snow/slush etc. They also reduce drag which would occur around the track area. On this occasion, due to sustaining damage, the flap canoe fairing was removed by maintenance for repair and the CDL dispatch allowance applied for operating the flight. It is perfectly normal as far as the aircraft flying safely akin to the indicator light lens missing on your vehicle as an example.
