Today's challenge......How to set up and perform the Fan of Poles exercise with your horse 🐎 This exercise is fantastic for: ▪️Engaging core stability ▪️Extending or enlongating stride length ▪️Collecting or shortening stride length ▪️Improving proprioception or body awareness ▪️Encouraging flexion in the joints ▪️Improving rhythm in the paces 🔹 Can be adapted from low difficulty challenge of poles on the ground attempted in the walk right up to a higher difficulty challenge of raised poles in the canter and many variations in between 🔹Can be attempted on the lunge or ridden 🔹Try 'leg yielding' your horse out to make the circle bigger and also encourage inside hindleg engagement (using your stick instead of your leg when on the ground) Most importantly have fun with it, only do as much as your horse can manage for today and work on improving a little each time 😊 www.jessicalimpkin.co.uk
