Donkey Steam Engine and Boiler 20" Diameter with Pump, Whistle SOLD on EBAY This brand new steam engine is the 27th fire-tube boiler I have built. The boiler itself is 20" dia. x 38" tall, made of 3/8" steel. The pop-off valve is set at 110 lbs. The boiler has 25 1-1/2" diameter copper tubes rolled in; they are 24" long. The firebox is nearly 20" in dia. x 12" tall with plenty of room for large pieces of wood or lots of coal. Ash pan and grates are built into the firebox and base. A special feature on this boiler is the blower ring. With the addition of this item the draft is increased by ten times. The amount of air moving through the fire is amazing. It also includes a large hand pump. A boiler of this size would cost in the $10,000 range from a boiler shop and that is just for the boiler -- not including the hand pump, water sight-glass, tricocks, antique 3" diameter brass whistle, pop-off valve and early 1900's pressure gauge. The steam engine is my 6th large, fully-machined and assembled steam engine. The cross slide guide and engine cylinder were made from castings. The crankdisk, eccentric, piston and rings, and all moving parts for the engine were machined from steel and bronze raw material. The engine has forward and reverse with a bore of 3 inches and a 4-inch stroke. The overall length of the engine alone is 26" (width 14" and height 28"). The flywheel is 10" in diameter and weighs 125 lbs. I estimate the hp at 3-4, depending on boiler pressure. Peeled log skids: The steam engine and boiler are mounted on a constructed peeled log base in the style of logging steam donkey skids. The logs are 8" in diameter by 62" long. The lifting table is not included.
