From Lancaster County to the big leagues: ‘The Big Amish’ Nick Kurtz is taking MLB by storm

Lancaster county native Nick Kurtz has made quite the name for himself since the Athletics called him up to the big leagues on April 23. “When our AAA manager called me, I didn’t really know how to react,” Kurtz said. “I can’t even remember the way I felt. I just called mom and dad and my girlfriend, and it was just one of those feelings that everything you’ve ever done in your life has come to that one moment and you finally did it.” While every athlete has an adjustment period when making the jump to the major leagues, Kurtz’s did not last long. “The first month I was up, it definitely was different. I had to make some adjustments, and then, as time went on, I got more comfortable and started figuring out what I needed to change at the plate,” Kurtz said. “Ever since I did that, that’s when things started going pretty well for me.” Read more here: https://www.fox43.com/article/sports/...
