June 27th, 2021 - Abundant Life in Christ for a Broken World In John 10:7-10, Jesus said, "I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved." (John 10:9a, NIV) An Arab shepherd told a Bible scholar the pen for his sheep did not need a gate because he was the gate or door. As Christians, we know Jesus is our shepherd and he is the door to have a personal relationship with the Creator of the Universe. Our friend, Dr. Mark McIIraith, the senior pastor at Lake Grove Presbyterian Church in Lake Oswego, Oregon, helps us understand the truth and context of this passage. Jesus came to give us abundant life. In the New Testament, God's Kingdom is described as an excessive feast. Our life in Jesus is more than forgiveness of our sins. Jesus has come to give abundant life in a broken world. The only door to this excessive life is Jesus Christ.
