So, before I get to talk about SpongeBob himself, let me just talk about this MUGEN version... it's the closest thing to a solid character I found, and even then, it's absolutely awful. I had to fix several things and even remove some parts to make it not broken, because otherwise, the whole thing is a mess. The only reason I'm not deleting this is because I'm not gonna waste all the effort I went through to edit before I found the stuff I can't fix. Now, SpongeBob at Pride Month, I remember a lot of whining about when Nickelodeon showed him in Pride Month posts, because "he is asexual because he is in a kids show" or "well, sponges reproduce asexually" and like... damn, people are really desperately queerphobic if they can't accept that the character that has been portrayed as asexual for the entirety of his existence just turns out to be... actually asexual, all this because his life and behavior happens to fit one of the letters in LGBTQIA+, like, really? Get over yourselves, he is ace, suck it up. The only somewhat reasonable argument I saw was that the creator would have said that as a response to him being perceived as gay and using asexuality as a "shield", because bigots associate gay men with sex in a negative way and "it's for kids, he'd never be sexual", which... it's just a fucking stupid conversation when we're talking about a character from a kids' cartoon that is a sea sponge that happens to be shaped like a cleaning sponge... also, the argument that he's ace because "all sponges are" simply doesn't apply because not only he has parents, but there is even a scene with him in his mother's womb. I hesitated to include him at first, but ace reps are rare in my videos, and if Nickelodeon is not afraid to say "YES, THE FUCKING SPONGE IS QUEER" (paraphrased, of course), then he fucking is.
