Try this for free before you call someone in. This video shows you how to replace the hard drive in a HUMAX HDR-1000S FreeSat PVR. I would suggest this as a first fix if your HDR-1000S is behaving in any of the following ways: 1. Playback of recorded items fails with 'unsupported file format' error. 2. All recordings are lost. 3. Device takes several minutes to start. All of the above happened with the device shown in the video. Often everything would be working perfectly too, but the problems repeated. This video doesn't have any magic fix advice to recover lost recordings - because there isn't any. If the hard drive is mechanically faulty and you see 'lost recording' errors then the you have actually lost your recordings. The newer HUMAX drives encrypt recordings and you can't simply connect the drive to a PC and copy over the files that still work - they can't be played and they won't show up if you then put them on a replacement drive.
