In September 2021 South African Parlimant held hearings on the proposed Cannabis for Private purposes bill, a draconian proposal which sought to limit the number of plants South Africans could possess for private use. In a seminal moment for South African democracy, civil society organisations mobilized, participated and in a series of hearings destroyed the proposed bill, sending law makers back to the drawing board. Environmental rights lawyer Ricky Stone and Community leader Greekson Nthombela Zweni, directors of the NGO the Umzimvubu Farmers Support Network (UFSN) present to South African Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on behalf of the regions Amampondo heritage farmers.
