APC Dominates FCT Polls as PDP Wins Gwagwalada

The Peoples Democratic Party has won the Gwagwalada chairmanship seat in the 2026 Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections. PDP candidate Mohammed Kasim secured 22,165 votes to defeat the APC’s Yahaya Shehu, who polled 17,788, while APGA came third. Across the other councils, the All Progressives Congress won most chairmanship positions, including victories in Kwali, Bwari, Abaji and Abuja Municipal Area Council. The Independent National Electoral Commission described the polls as peaceful and smoothly conducted, with voters participating across all six councils.
