Freeths and Safe & the City

In our latest Networking Events for Women talk, we are joined by the founder of Safe & The City Jillian Kowalchuk. Safe & The City is an app used to navigate from point A to B using the safest route rather than the quickest route. At its simplest form, it is an app much like google maps, but it identifies hot spots in cities where women have felt unsafe and finds alternate routes to avoid these areas when planning a journey. This product has been born from Jillian’s own experiences of being assaulted/harassed/made to feel unsafe in various cities after following routes outlined by the likes of Google maps. Jillian herself has an incredibly interesting career and personal life. She’s worked with the UN, speaks heavily about women in Data and Tech and has also given a TED talk.
