Chiara Pittalis is a Research Fellow at the RCSI Institute of Global Surgery, where her work focuses on strengthening health care delivery in low-resource settings. Since 2019, she has been the lead researcher on the Akazi Project in Malawi, which aims to improve access to timely diagnosis and treatment for women with breast cancer. The project works through partnerships with local clinicians, health authorities, and communities to identify service gaps, train frontline health workers, and support better care. IGHNxEU: Empowering Women for a Healthier Europe brought together an extraordinary community of leaders, advocates, and changemakers for an inspiring day at the RDS, Dublin, on Friday, 14 November 2025. Co-hosted with Women in Global Health Ireland and the European Institute of Women’s Health, and proudly accredited by The CPD Group. United by shared values of equity, humanity, and inclusivity, we created our own TED-style platform to spotlight the voices of women shaping a healthier and fairer Europe. The day featured a powerful lineup of short, dynamic talks on diverse global health themes, enriched by creative performances including music, poetry, storytelling, and comedy. Together, these elements sparked conversation, reflection, and connection across sectors and generations. IGHNxEU celebrated the expertise and lived experience of women driving positive change, and reaffirmed our collective commitment to building a Europe where health, dignity, and equality are a reality for all.
