Electrochemotherapy Video of a Session on a Horse Nose Carcinoma with an ELECTROvet S13

Electrochemotherapy session of a horse carcinoma located in the tip of nose of a horse realized at the clinique équine de Conques in Bordeaux (France) in August 2014 with Dr. Fabien Relave, DVM, DACVS, DECVS. After having calculated the volume of cisplatin to inject, prepared himself for the use of cytotoxic, prepared the cisplatin syringes and needles, prepared the electroporator (ELECTROvet S13): connecting the L-shaped electrodes, the double pedal and plugging the unit into an electrical outlet and turning it on ; preparing the horse with a general anesthesia of short duration and a surgical cleaning of the carcinoma and the area around it ; he proceeded to the injection of cisplatin intratumorally separated by 6mm apart by inserting the needle into the tumor and removing it while pressing the plunger of the syringe in one plane. Less than 10 minutes after the first injection, the electrical pulses are applied by putting the L-shaped electrodes on the carcinoma, he then pressed on the foot switch "CHARGE" to load the device and on the foot-witch "PULSE" to deliver pulses, he rotated 90° and re-applied the electrodes on the carcinoma repeating the same procedure. He shifted by 1cm the electrodes to treat the next zone. He repeated until the entire surface of the carcinoma is treated. Two orthogonal application treats 1cm3. An average of 3 electrochemotherapy sessions per cases is needed.
