From the album Na Poi (1972). On the original LP release this song appeared in two parts, with the first 16 minutes on side 1 and the remaining 9 minutes on side 2 (along with the song You No Go Die...Unless You Want Die). For CD reissues the two parts were recombined to form a single track. This is the first Fela Kuti song I ever heard. I found the Japanese twofer CD, which consists of the albums Na Poi and Zombie (the more common Fela Originals version pairs the Na Poi album with Yellow Fever) in the rack of 500 yen CDs at Book Off. Having read about Fela but never having heard his music (in the post-Napster/pre-YouTube days) I wasn't sure what to expect, and for the first three minutes I wasn't sure if I had made a wise purchase or not. However, as soon as the band started playing I knew that I had discovered yet another lifelong musical obsession.
