My (Dad's) role is to attack and try to seize control of Maisy, usually from an arresting grab, sometimes with the motion of another attack, throw or takedown. Maisy's role is to meet my attack in such a way that it can't reach her core, while moving off the line and continuing the flow so that my own energetic input returns to the earth through me. This relationship continues throughout. Dad is always in attack mode - thus vulnerable because of constantly trying to seize the advantage - and Maisy is always aiming for "lightning conductor" mode. Obviously we're not trying to seriously injure each other and break bones, but to train slowly and sensitively so that movement pathways are felt in flow. We really seem to have found our way doing this lately, so it was great to capture it from this angle, as it shows a lot of the subtle details you can't see from the side, including where our balance is going.
