This is a restored cut from the 1981 LP, "At the Crossroads", one of the final albums produced by the Irish folk group, The Corrib Folk. The song is a plaintive one, sparsely arranged to good effect by the Corrib Folk, being a lament regarding the death of Margaret Butler (an Irish noble), the deforestation of Ireland's woodlands, and the Irish way of life held therein. The song's lyrics are attributed to Thomas Kinsella, who translated them from the Irish, using the book, "An Duanaire 1600 -1900 Poems of the Dispossessed" as a source. The Corrib Folk was a band that formed in Belfast, Ireland, in 1972, consisting of Barry Nelson, Jim Moran, and Liam Barr. Over time and after a handful of albums, the band membership shifted; and by the time of this album, produced near Chicago, Illinois, the band consisted of Jim Moran, Barry Nelson, and Tony Kellegher. After settling in the USA, the band played frequently at pubs in and around Chicago and Boston in the 1970s and early 1980s.
